NEW COLT BAT RULE FOR THIS SEASON


RULES ON THE USE OF BATS (This section was approved 3/28/11)

            A)  All bats bearing a BBCOR stamp, or certification, are legal for play in the PCL;             
            B)   Wood bats are permissible for use in the PCL;
            C)  Wood composite bats must have a BESR, or BBCOR stamp, or certification;
            D)  The penalty(s) for the use of an illegal bat will be as follows:
                  a)  If any player enters the batter’s box with an illegal bat, the bat shall be removed and
                       a “team” warning will be issued;
                  b)  If any player from the same team enters the batter’s box a second time, in the same game,
                          with an illegal bat, that player will be declared to be out and will be ejected from that
                        game. This same rule shall apply to any subsequent batter for the same team;                  
                            c)   If any player reaches base during any turn at bat, and the bat is found to be illegal, the
                          player shall be declared out and all runners shall be returned to the base(s) they occupied
                       prior to that at bat. The same penalties shall apply to the batter as stated in Rule
                       12D a & b;
                d)   Managers/coaches will NOT be allowed to substitute for any player ejected from any game
                      according to Rule 12D a, b & c. In the event that a team is unable to field nine (9) players
                      due to objections under this rule the game shall be declared a forfeit and the opposing team
                      will be declared the winner by a score of 7-0;
                e)   It shall be the responsibility of any umpire, or umpire group, to notify the League President,
                      or designated representative, when any ejection under Rule 12 occurs. Repeated offenses
          by an individual player, or team, may be subject to additional disciplinary procedure.
                      In these circumstances the Protest/Rules Committee shall determine if any additional
                      disciplinary action(s) will be prescribed.
